JAMMU, Mar 5: Sulabh International Social Service Organisation (SISSO) J&K has organized Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at main market Trikuta Nagar and Sabzi Mandi, Sainik Colony here today to mark its 51st Foundation Day.
Cotton bags and masks were distributed among the people by taking away polythene bags from them and they agreed to use cotton bags in future instead of polythene bags.
The main function was organized in the premises of Sulabh International Headquarter at Trikuta Nagar where dignitaries were Narinder Singh Jamwal, Chairman Health & Sanitation Committee of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and JMC Councillor Jyoti Devi, Anil Kumar Singh, Controller SISSO J&K and Anchal Singh, Senior Journalist.
Speaking on the occasion Narinder Singh said Sulabh has done a great job in the field of sanitation.
Earlier, Anil Kumar, Controller read the message of Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder, Sulabh Sanitation & Social Reformer Movement.
He said: “On its 51st Foundation Day, Sulabh International recalls and celebrates the enormously eventful journey of its illustrious Founder Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak.”
“At a time when any talk about toilet was considered a taboo, Dr. Pathak made making toilets his calling, his career, which earned him resentment and wrath from his near and dear ones,” he maintained.
Sunil Kumar Singh, Akhilesh Kumar, Bishwanath Singh, Harish Kumar, Varendra Jha, Rattan Singh, B.B Singh, Arun Kumar Mishra, Sukhvinder Singh, Sahil Kumar, Pardeep Singh, Tarsam Lal, Rakesh Kumar Singh, Dhana Thapa, BJP leaders and social workers of Sulabh International were also present on this occasion.
