JAMMU, June 10: Confederation of Voluntary Social and Charitable Organizations has unanimously elected its new office bearers.
S S Sumbria, a veteran social worker and an award winner of UNESCO, has been nominated as first chairman of the Confederation.
B R Parmoo was elected as president, O P Thakur as senior vice-president, Prof S S Bali as general secretary, Sanjeev Parihar as treasurers and G D Shahmeri as senior vice president for the Kashmir region.
The election was held under the supervision of Dr Basarat Singh, former Joint Director Sheep Husbandry Department, in his capacity as Election Officer.
Before the elections, the general body meeting was held under the chairmanship of H N Tickoo, outgoing president. The members from all the districts participated in the meeting.
