Sumo carrying marriage party plunges into gorge; 3 killed, 8 injured

JAMMU, Dec 12: A rashly driven Tata Sumo carrying marriage party plunged into gorge near Gangal area of tehsil Gandoh in the mountainous Doda district today, resulting into death of three persons including a woman and serious injuries to eight others.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK06-5275 carrying marriage party was on its to village Changa from village Kahaljugasar, when the driver failed to negotiate sharp curve near Gangal, resulting into death of three persons and serious injuries to eight others. The accident took place due to negligent driving of the driver.
After getting information, police, army and locals rushed to the spot and retrieved the dead bodies of the two persons, who have been identified as Hasham Din, son of Mohammad Sadiq, Ranjna Devi and Parvaiz Ahmed, son of Hasham Din, trio residents of village Inhara.
The injured were also rescued and shifted to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Changa. Some of the injured persons, who received serious injuries, were later referred to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Gandoh for specialized treatment.
The injured have been identified as two brothers namely Mohammad Ashfaq and Irfaz Ahmed, sons of Hasham Din of village Inhara, Sheela Devi, daughter of Shiv Dass of village Pora Bala, Tilak Raj, son of Sab Ram of village Inhara, Kalash Kumar, son of Vinod Singh of village Kahaljugasar, Maneesha Devi, daughter of Mahinder Kapoor of village Tipri, Bipna Devi, wife of Rakesh Kumar of village Kahal and Kanchna Devi, daughter of Partap Singh of village Kahal.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Gandoh police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the driver of the vehicle, who managed to escape from the spot after the accident.
