Sun Pharma inaugurates training-cum-production centre to empower women

SAMBA, Jan 6: As a part of its CSR vision to bring about the holistic development of underserved communities in a sustainable manner, Sun Pharma, the largest pharmaceutical company in India, inaugurated a Sewing Training-cum-Production Centre today in Samba, in collaboration with the ELFA International and Usha International.
This initiative aims to empower 25 women from low-income groups in the area, by enhancing their skills and promoting micro-enterprises. As part of the program, participants will receive 25 days of intensive training in sewing and stitching. They will also be guided on establishing village-level sewing enterprises, encouraging self-reliance and driving social change within their communities. The participants will be provided continuous skill enhancement and ongoing support through regular follow-ups and market linkages.
The program was launched by Chander Prakash Ganga, MLA Vijaypur constituency, in presence of Dr Arun Manhas, Director Industries & Commerce; Professor Indu Kilam, Sr Advisor & Mentor, ELFA International; Heena Kouser, ELFA International; Parul Khajuria, Block Development Officer, Bari Brahmana; Uday Chintawar, Plant Head, Sun Pharma; Priyanka Talwar, Sun Pharma; Shayista Ayoub, State Coordinator, USHA International; Tersem Singh, Minakshi Sharma, ELFA International and other dignitaries.
Chander Prakash Ganga appreciated Sun Pharma, ELFA International and USHA International for starting this wonderful program in district Samba, Jammu and ensured his full support and cooperation.
Dr Arun Manhas said such initiatives are need of the hour and ELFA International has been doing a commendable job in J&K. He appreciated Sun Pharma for taking this wonderful initiative under their CSR initiative and assured his full support and cooperation
Commenting on the launch, Chandrashekhar Gowda, AVP – Head, Corporate Social Responsibility, said, “At Sun Pharma, we are deeply committed to promoting social change and economic self-reliance. By equipping women with essential skills and opportunities we aim to foster resilience, economic independence and greater gender equality. Sun Pharma is working closely with local and district administration to ensure the success of this initiative”.
Sun Pharma is also running this program for 25 women in Panoli, Gujarat.
