JAMMU, July 30: Former MLC Ravinder Sharma has lashed out at the State and Central Government for ignoring both the townships of Sunderbani and Nowshera while granting the sanction of upgradation of power network for other major towns in the State.
In a statement, Mr. Sharma termed it as unfortunate and discriminatory as both the towns have their own locational and strategic importance and lack the proper power transmission system being a border belt. He said that Sunderbani is gateway to Rajouri-Poonch and base camp for Shri Budha Amarnath Yatra, while Nowshera is a historical town on Mughal route having a heritage identity. The neglect and dropping both the towns from the modernization of electricity network is highly unfortunate and failure to give the due attention to the area.
He said that frequent power cuts and undue delay in the replacement of damaged transformers is causing great resentment to the people. He asked the authorities to not to test the patience of people.
