JAMMU, Dec 18: Glowing tributes were paid to Shaheed Lt. Thakur Dass Sharma at a function organised by Sports Club Akhnoor at KR Resorts Akhnoor today.
Minister of Youth Services and Sports with independent charge of Transport, Sunil Sharma was chief guest and MLA Akhnoor Rajiv Sharma was guest of honour.
Shaeed Lt. Thakur Dass Sharma laid down his life in 1965 Indo -Pak war.
A large number of people from different areas of Akhnoor, Jourian , Khour etc were present there.
Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Sharma said that it is because of the sacrifices of these martyrs that India is emerging stronger day by day and their sacrifices are an inspiration for younger generations as it imbibes the spirit of patriotism among them. It is blood of the martyrs which make a nation strong, he added.
Sharma also assured to provide every possible help to the youth of Akhnoor regarding games and sports.
MLA Akhnoor Rajiv Sharma also announced Rs two lakh from the CDF for welfare of the youths.
The MLA also assured the people that development of the Constituency is his priority.

Sat Saraf , Jaspreet Arzot, Surinder Sharma, Raman Sharma, Rita Kumari, Perveen Sharma, Sohan Bhagat, Thoru Ram and others.
D K Kapoor president of the Club assured the gathering that the Club will continue promoting sports activities in Akhnoor and the awards giving will be a regular feature in future to be held annually in order to boost the morale of sports persons so that they are shaped to compete even in international sports events.
