JAMMU, May 2: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the deliberate attempt to communalise the situation in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory by former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah by deceitfully trying to connect power cuts with holy month of Ramzan in Sehri and Namaz. This was a well thought of design to mislead and misguide particular religion against Government for petty political gains.
Sunil Sethi, chief spokesperson of the party said in press release that finally National Conference (NC) has thrown away its false clothing of secularism and its communal face with fangs has come out. He said that though Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had also requested the administration to improve power supply but at the same time it can’t be forgotten that power supply is affected largely of defective power policies of previous regimes which has left huge outstanding arrears.
Sethi noted with concern that there had been no opposition to reckless statements of Omar from constituents of PAGD which espouses tactical acceptance and approval for shifting to communal politics. This is dangerous trend which will further radicalize situation but unfortunately PAGD has gone low in politics with eye on coming elections.
He said such communal tirades have no place in tolerant society of Jammu and Kashmir and is yet another attempt to engineer violence. Sunil Sethi also took exception to statement of Omar questioning accession of State to Union. The decision to accede to India was taken by ruler of the State as was done in case of other states. Omar has forgotten history as to how killings and tortures and destruction of property had been done by Pakistani invaders to Kashmir, he added.
The Press release noted that BJP stands for brotherhood amongst all nationalists belonging to different religions and will oppose all attempts to weaken the secular fiber of mutual coexistence.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesman and senior leader from Kashmir Altaf Thakur has also accused Omar Abdullah of playing politics over use of loud speakers just to gain political mileage. He said use of loud speakers have been prohibited round the clock not for Azan and Friday speech in UP, Gujarat and other states of India’s claimed by Omar.
He said that various sects like Wahabi, Deobandi and others have already termed use of loud speakers as Bidah (Un Islamic) and Omar should clarify whether he considers these sects as Muslims.
