JAMMU, Aug 4: Nagrota police with the assistance of Chinore police arrested a supari killer and his associate from Bantalab area.
As per police sources, a murder accused namely Gaurav Pratap Singh alias Shanky, son of Ved Prakash of Panjgrain lodged in District Jail Ambphalla in a murder case hatched a conspiracy in the Court premises with supari killer Ranbir Singh alias Rana, son of Mulkh Raj Singh of Bantalab to eliminate Ramesh Singh, son of Prabhu Singh of Panjgrain owing to some land dispute.
On July 17, 2015 when Ramesh was on his way to home at Panjgrian, the Supari killer Ranbir Singh alias Rana alongwith his associates Raj Kumar, son of Krishan Chand of Seri Kalan, Panjgrian and Monu, son of Anil Mehta of Durga Nagar attacked Ramesh with sharp edged weapons and escaped from the spot on a motorcycle.
After getting information, Nagrota police team rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he remained under treatment for days together and was later discharged.
A case under FIR Number 143/15 under Section 307, 341, 323 and 109/34 RPC and 4/27 Arms Act was registered in Nagrota police station and investigation started.
Acting swiftly, one of the accused identified as Raj Kumar, son of Krishan Chand, a resident of Seri Kalan, Panjgrian was arrested by the Nagrota police, whileas manhunt was launched to nab other accused.
On specific information, police team led by SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma alongwith SHO Nagrota Inspector Daleep Singh with the assistance of Incharge Chinore police post SI Vikram Manhas and under the supervision of Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey conducted a raid in Bantalab area and nabbed the supari killer and his associate Monu.
During questioning, the supari killer confessed to the crime and told police that he set a deal of Rs 1 lakh with Shanky for eliminating Ramesh and took Rs 10,000 as advance.
The supari killer is involved in various cases like murder and robbery registered with different police stations including Katra, Domana and Nagrota.
Further investigation into the case registered against trio accused with Nagrota police station is going on.
