Surankote police rescues 9 bovines, arrests 2 smugglers

POONCH, June 16: Police today rescued nine bovine animals which were being smuggled to Kashmir Valley from Thana Mandi during a Naka at Bafliyaz and arrested two persons besides seizing the vehicle.
According to police nine bovine animals were rescued by the Police which were being smuggled from Thana Mandi to Kashmir via Mughal road at Bafliaz during the routine checking at a Naka today.
Police said the two bovine smugglers Wasim Akram, son of Mohammed Akram of Prangal Thana Mandi and Asif Mehmood, son of Mohammed Arif also of Prangal were arrested while the Tata Sumo JK11 A 370 was also seized.
Police said SP Poonch, Shamsher Hussain has installed three police posts at Bafliaz, Poshana and Peer Ki Gali to check the smuggling of bovine animals via Mughal road. Besides police patrolling teams were also deployed on interior roads to check smuggling.
Today’s incident is 6th of bovine smuggling which was seized by the police. An FIR under number 67/2013 under Section 188 was registered in PS Surankote.
