NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha today began debate on the Demand for Grants for the Ministry of Defence with BJP lawmaker R K Singh stating that by surgical strikes against terror base in Pakistan, the Modi Government has given a clear message that it means business in terms of ensuring national safety and security.
“The surgical strikes against terror base in Pakistan has given a clear signal….It gave a message not only to Pakistan but across the world that this Government is different,” Mr Singh said.
The former Union Home Secretary said in terms of enhancing defence capabilities, the country should be very cautious about “strategic capabilities” as India is surrounded by important neighbouring countries like China and Pakistan.
“We should be more careful as both are also nuclear powers,” he said. The BJP member from Arrah in Bihar also said that the Government of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has “the interests of soldiers in our heart”. (AGENCIES)
