Survey report on ‘Urban Homeless Persons in J&K’ released

JAMMU, Nov 23: Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, Prof Ashok Aima and Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Chander Mohan Gupta jointly released a survey report on “Urban Homeless Persons in Jammu and Kashmir”.
Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma and JMC Commissioner Pankaj Magotra were present in the event, which was organized in the Town Hall, Jammu Municipal Corporation.
The survey was part of the Scheme for Urban Homeless, a sub component of National Urban Livelihood Mission, to identify shelterless or homeless persons in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu Municipal Corporation is the nodal agency to provide shelters for urban homeless in Jammu Division. The Jammu Municipal Corporation signed MoU with Department of Public Policy and Public Administration, Central University of Jammu on October 14, 2019 under which the guidelines for the conduct of survey were mentioned.
The Department of Public Policy and Public Administration conducted first phase of the survey from October 21, 2019 to November 7, 2019 in 4 districts (Jammu, Kathua, Reasi and Udhampur) and prepared the survey report.
On the occasion, Mayor, JMC congratulated VC, CUJ and the team of the Surveyors for successfully completing the survey. On the occasion, certificates to the Surveyors were also distributed by the VC and Mayor.
