Surya Saptami celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety

JAMMU, Jan 29: Surya Saptami, the birthday of Sun God was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety.
In this connection grand functions were held at Sun Temple Martand (Mattan ) in South Kashmir district of Anantnag and Surya Bhawan Martand, Paloura here.
Hundreds of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu participated in the religious function both at Sun temple Martand Anantnag despite chilly weather conditions in Valley and Suriya Bhawan Martand, Paloura here.
On the occasion Maha Yagya’s as usual were held at both the shrines which concluded with Puranahuti followed by serving of Prashad to devotees. The function was held under the supervision of president, Martand Tirath Trust Ashok Sidha and general secretary, T K Tickoo.
The Bhajan Kirtan and religious discourses highlighting the significance of Tirath Raj Martand were the main highlights of the two days religious function.
The function at Surya Bhawan Paloura was graced by Swami Rudra Nath Ji Maharaj from Rajasthan as chief guest while Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, K K Sidha, Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsangh Ashram Muthi, K K Khosa president, KP Sabha Jammu and other prominent people also attended the function.
It may be recalled after the mass exodus of Kashmir Pandits in 1989-90 the annual Surya Saptami function is held at Surya Bhawan, Paloura as usual.
