JAMMU, Aug 21: A police official suspended from services was today shot at and injured by some unknown persons in Gandhi Nagar area of city outskirts.
“The victim has been identified as Kanwar Yogesh (42) of Gorkha Nagar (Baghe-Bahu), a police constable of J&K Police who was suspended from the services about 4-5 months back,” a police officer said. He said the victim was in Green Belt park area when he was fired upon by some unknown person/persons at about 4:45 a.m.
The officer said the bullet hit the Kanwar Yogesh at shoulder after which he was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment. The victim is stable and responding well to treatment, he added.
“A case in this connection has been registered under relevant sections of law at police station Gandhi Nagar and investigations started,” the officer further added.
Reasons behind the firing are being ascertained by the investigating teams.
