Sutherland Global Services forays into Tiruchirappalli

TIRUCHIRAPALLI, June 4:  Sutherland Global Services, a US-headquartered multinational BPO company, is making its foray into a Tier-II town in Tamil Nadu.
This is part of the new ‘Campus Connect’ model that the company has launched. Sutherland will hire around 100 people here over the next 12 months. From its facility in the city, Sutherland will provide back-office BPO work in the Financial Services space.
The company is also looking at expanding its campus connect model into other Tier 2 towns in Tamil Nadu.
As a first step, Sutherland is partnering with city based Shivani Engineering College to offer opportunities for the students to “earn while they learn” as they finish their science or engineering studies.
Dilip Vellodi, Founder Chairman and CEO, Sutherland Global Services said in a statement yesterday that the company is constantly looking at new models and new geographies in its endeavour to provide the best in class integrated BPO service to its global customers.
“We believe our ‘Campus Connect’ is an innovative win-win model where the students will get corporate work exposure in a global multi-national company, while the company has immediate access to trained quality talent once the students complete their graduation,” he said.
A company spokesperson told PTI that based on the success and scaling up in Tiruchirappalli, the company could look at extending this campus connect model to other Tier-II towns such as Tirunelveli and Madurai sometime in the future.
Sutherland is one of the oldest and largest independent BPO companies globally and has revenues of USD 750 mn. The company offers an integrated portfolio of analytics-driven back-office and customer facing solutions that support the entire customer life cycle.
The company has over 40 operations centers in the US, Philippines, India, UAE, Egypt, Bulgaria, UK, Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, Colombia, Malaysia and China.
In India, the company has over 10,000 people working out of facilities in Kochi, Mumbai and Chennai.
Earlier this year, Sutherland completed its acquisition of Apollo Health Street, the BPO arm of Apollo Hospitals. (PTI)
