SVC seeks status report in JAKFED misappropriations

JAMMU, Mar 24: State Vigilance Commission while proceeding on a complaint lodged by  S K  Bhalla alleging that officers/officials of JAKFED under a conspired plan and by abuse of their official position made  misappropriations  from time to time, sought action taken report from MD JAKFED in the matter after thorough checking of records and due enquiry.
These misappropriations have resulted in accumulation of   an old imprest account amounting to more than Rs 4 crores in the JAKFED which is still outstanding against several retired and in-service officials of JAKFED.
The report, presented today before the Commission, reveals that out of an imprest money amounting to more than Rs. 4 crores outstanding against various officials of JAKFED, only Rs 14 lakh could be accounted for by the Special Audit Committee constituted by the Government vide Government Order No. 27-Coop of 2015, Dated: 16.09.2015.
The Committee was constituted after twelve hearings by the Vigilance Commission to fix accountability regarding alleged misappropriation of Rs 4 crores. The Audit team is also assisted by the officers and Auditors of the Cooperative Department. The balance amount of Rs 3 crores and 91 lakhs   is yet to get accounted for.
The Commission taking a serious note of the matter,  has directed the JAKFED and the Audit team to complete the audit speedily and work out exact embezzled amount after verification of the records and also fix the involvement of the officers /officials and file compliance report before the Commission on next date of hearing.
