JAMMU, Aug 20: The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) today summoned Director Floriculture, Secretary Lake and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) and Enforcement Officer LAWDA to appear in person before the Commission on September 19.
The summons have been issued on the basis of information obtained by the complainant under Right to Information Act from Floriculture Department regarding allotment procedure and other related information in respect of a shop belonging to Floriculture Department issues outside the famous Mughal Garden, Cheshmashahi under the name and style of ‘Tourist Photo Studio’, which was being run by Mohammad Amin Pahloo since long.
The complainant had alleged that till date the Floriculture and LAWDA have maintained an unacceptable silence towards the shopkeeper, which points toward involvement of departmental officials in the issue and their gainful interests.
The SVC said the perusal of records revealed that no action appeared to have been taken in the matter since July 2010 despite the fact that the issue was in knowledge of the authorities. Further, despite notices by the SVC, the concerned officers of Floriculture and LAWDA have failed to furnish the requisite information before the Commission till date.
The SVC said the present complaint has been lodged before the Commission on June 12, 2014, which indicated that the illegal construction has not been removed so far and the person is running his business from there.
