JAMMU: The State Vigilance Organisation today arrested a revenue official for demanding and accepting bribe in Udhampur district.
”A complaint was received in Vigilance Organisation, Jammu, lodged by one Narayan Singh, son of Major Singh, resident of Surinsar, alleging therein that Patwari Halqa Surinsar namely Mohd Sharief demanded bribe in lieu of getting mutation attested of the land measuring one kanal and one marla, situated at Surinsar, duly purchased by the complainant through proper sale deed,” official spokesman here said.
Acting on a complaint, Vigilance Organisation, Jammu, case was registered against the revenue official, said the spokesman adding, ”a trap was laid accordingly and the accused official was apprehended red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 4,000 as bribe from the complainant for attesting mutation in his favour”.
The tainted money was recovered from the possession of the accused patwari in presence of the independent witnesses, he asserted. (AGENCIES)
