JAMMU, Mar 30: The State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today booked two former Government officials of Medical block Sallar in Anantnag district for fraudulently withdrawing over Rs 11 lakh from the account of Block Medical Officer (BMO).
The then Block Medical Officer Sallar Abdul Rashid Matoo and then Junior Assistant Medical Nissar Ahmad Ganai were booked under relevant Sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and RPC for fraudulently withdrawing Rs 11,07,800 causing a loss to the State exchequer, a SVO spokesperson said here.
Matoo in league with Ganai and others allegedly transferred/withdrew Rs 11,07,800 from the official account, being operated by the Block Medical Officer, between July 2005 to December 2008 by abusing their official positions, he said.
The case was registered on the outcome of a preliminary inquiry conducted by the Organization.
A team has been set up and further investigations launched to identify the other persons involved in the fraud and book them to justice, the spokesperson said, adding no arrests have been made so far.
