JAMMU, June 28: State Vigilance Organization produced challan against an Agriculture Extension Worker (Rehbar-e-Zerat) who was booked for demanding and accepting bribe.
The accused, Mohammad Ashraf Mir of Gundipora, Pulwama, then Agriculture Extension Worker, Sub division Kakapora, Pulwama, was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 6000 from the complainant farmer. The challan was produced in the Court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Srinagar in case FIR No. 26/2012 P/S-VOK.
The Case was registered on receipt of a written complaint lodged by one Ghulam Qadir Bhat of Jageer Parigam, Pulwama, last year who alleged that the accused was demanding Rs 15000 from him as bribe to process his case under ‘Saffron Mission’. Under this scheme, farmers are given an amount of Rs 25000 per kanal of land for facilitating cultivation of saffron.
On basis of the complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap and arrested the accused red handed while accepting an amount of Rs 6000 from the complainant. The investigation of the case was concluded as proved and Government accorded sanction for launching prosecution against the accused.
