SVO produces challan against former Director Agri, others

JAMMU, Sept 27: State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today produced challan against four retired officers of the Agriculture Department and proprietor of a firm in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption, Srinagar.
A spokesman of the Vigilance organization said that the accused officers under a well knit conspiracy with the Proprietor of M/s Modern Seed Farm, Srinagar had dishonestly shown placement of different supply orders with M/s Garnier Seeds India Delhi for supply of 30.5 quintals of Hybrid Sudan Grass Seed.
The supply orders issued had never reached M/s Garnier Seeds India Delhi and were found placed dishonestly by public servants without inducing any competition to make purchases from M/s Modern Seeds Farm Srinagar.
Mohammad Sideeq Rather, Proprietor of M/s Modern Seed Farm, Srinagar had resorted to forgery and prepared a fake and fictitious authorization letter purportedly shown issued by M/s Garnier Seeds India Delhi declaring thereby MsS Modern Seed Farm, Srinagar as registered distributor for M/s Garnier Seeds India Delhi and shown rate of Hybrid Sudan Grass Seeds Rs 225 per kilograms
The accused public servants in league with Proprietor of M/s Modern Seeds Farm, Srinagar were found to have dishonestly and in furtherance of criminal conspiracy purchased 30.5 quintals of Hybrid Sudan Grass Seeds on highly exorbitant rates to confer undue benefit upon themselves and the supplier firm and corresponding loss of Rs 5,25.875 to the State exchequer.
During the course of investigation, allegations have been prima facie established against the accused persons and today challan of the case was produced before the Court of law for judicial determination.
The accused officials are Gh Hyder Bhat, the then Director Agriculture, Kashmir (now retired), resident of Arabal, Noor Din Wani, the then District Agriculture Officer (Extension)  Pulwama, resident of Gousia Colony Lal Nagar Chanpora, Srinagar, Bashir Ahmad Mir, the then Chief Agriculture Officer Pulwama (now retired), resident of Bungran, Shopian and Mohammad Sadeeq Rather, resident of Hyderpora Bypass
