JAMMU, Sept 4: Chief Education Officer Poonch, Mohd Arif Malik, presently attached to the office of Director School Education, Jammu, has been booked by the State Vigilance Organisation while the SVO teams simultaneously raided his office at Poonch and house at Rajouri town today.
Official sources told the Excelsior that Vigilance Organization registered a formal case against Chief Education Officer Poonch Mohd Arif Mallik, son of Mohd Iqbal Malik, resident of Kheora, Rajouri vide FIR No. 34/2017 u/s 5(1)(d) read with 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt 2006 & Section 120-B RPC at P/S Vigilance Organization Jammu on the basis of allegations regarding transfer of teachers for pecuniary benefits while his posting as CEO, Poonch in connivance with his sub-ordinate officials and other beneficiary teachers during his posting in Education Department, Poonch from June 12, 2017 up to August 31, 2017.
SP Vigilance Amit Gupta when contacted told the Excelsior that on the basis of complaints, Vigilance Organization registered a case under relevant sections of law. Today, the two teams under the supervision of DySP, VK Bhat conducted simultaneous raids with the help of local police at his office in Poonch and residence at Keora in Rajouri.
During the searches at his office, it has been observed that within short span of his posting at Poonch, Malik has made large number of transfers of teachers and other staff. During the process, all relevant record and suspicious documents, have been recovered from various locations and seized in presence of independent witnesses.
He further disclosed that detailed and in-depth scrutiny of the seized record will be carried out during further course of investigation by Vigilance sleuths. More details will come out shortly. He said while raid at his residence was over within a few hours during the day, at office the process concluded late in the evening, with the scrutiny and seizure of a large number of files.
