SVO raids PDD offices, seizes record

JAMMU, Oct 18: The State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today seized the record of three divisions and two stores of the Power Development Department during joint surprise checks conducted in the offices following inputs of withdrawal of huge amount on account of purchases, repairs and installation of various electric items.
“The joint surprise checks were conducted at Electric Division-II in Gandhi Nagar, Electric Division-III in Janipura, Electric Division Parade Ground, their respective workshops, Electric Central Store Division Narwal and Central Workshop Division Narwal.
“Record pertaining to purchases and repairs during past two years has been seized for scrutiny in the presence of employees of the Department to ascertain the facts,” official sources said.
They said the joint surprise checks were conducted following inputs that officers and officials of the PDD during the year 2015-16 and subsequent months have drawn huge amount on account of purchases, repairs and installations of various electric items like transformers, poles, cables etc without adhering to the codal formalities and by making purchases from the unregistered dealers on exorbitant rates.
Further investigations in the case were being conducted by DySP HL Pandita and DySP VK Bhat under the supervision of senior officers of the Vigilance Organization.
