This has reference to the news item ‘No politics in ‘Clean India Mssion’ DE Oct 3.
There indeed should not be any kind of politics in a mission that concerns all of us. Politics would take its sheen away and it will get mired in controversy.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan as former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram terms it should achieve its objective of making India free of filth and dirt that accumulates around surroundings and makes our life miserable.
What is in a name ? It will hardly matter the citizens. Had Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan been launched on a large scale there would have been no Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. If UPA failed in its mission, it should not complain now.
Mere launching a scheme is not enough in itself, results matter. The people alone can’t make it a success. A comprehensive blue print for implementing the scheme should be ready. Funds too are needed for making it a success. India will be a clean country in coming times provided Government machinery and public participate in this mission in a holistic manner.
