Swami Vivekanand Hospital introduces 1st ever Endovenous RFA for varicosity

JAMMU, Aug 6: In its drive to continuously upgrade the facilities for patients, Swami Vivekanand Medical Mission (SVMM) Charitable Hospital, Amphalla, Jammu today on the eve of Vascular Day introduced the first ever Endovenous Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) for varicosity.
This technique is quite new and innovative which helps numerous patients with varicosity of veins without open surgery and is purely a percutaneous procedure. This will bring respite to thousands of patients who had no option but to seek Radio Frequency Ablation procedure in hospitals outside the State.
The procedure of Endovenous Radio Frequency Ablation was inaugurated by Dr Subhash Gupta (patron of the SVMM) in presence of Anil Gupta (president), Amar Chand Gupta (senior vice president), Atma Saroop Gupta (vice president), B B Gupta (general secretary), B S Jamwal (secretary), Subhash Gupta (associate member), members—Dr Bankey Lal Gupta, Ramesh Chander Gupta, Dr Satya Dev Gupta, Shanker Dutt Sharma, S L Suri, Kavinder Gupta, Sharat Puri, M L Gupta, Brig Suchet Singh, Neeraj Puri, Dr Jatinder Gupta, Administrator Dr Romesh Gupta, consultants, doctors and paramedical staff.
Anil Gupta, while giving details about the new facility, said that this is the most advanced Vascular Surgical facility in Phelbology and proctology and will be performed in this hospital at very subsidized cost as compared to other hospitals. He said now, the patients of Vascular ailments like Varicose Veins, Spider Veins, Hemorrhoids (Piles) and Fistula in anus can avail most modern treatment using Endovenous Radio Frequency technique and state of art vascular imaging.
“The surgical procedures using these techniques shall be conducted by the expert surgeons in the field. Procedure could be performed under local or spinal anesthesia and can be done on OPD basis without putting much burden on hospital resources,” he said, adding, this facility is introduced for the first time in J&K by SVMM Hospital.
Gupta said that the RFA is a minimum invasive procedure and this modern treatment can be availed by even poor now at a very subsidized cost at Swami Vivekanand Hospital while other hospitals charge a hefty amount for this procedure.
