Swaran Vihar residents’ concern over water scarcity, poor drainage

JAMMU, Dec 19: The Swaran Vihar Welfare Association has expressed its grave concern over the constant water scarcity problem being faced by them and alleged that though the issue was taken up with the authorities they failed to settle the same.
The Association said in case the Government continues to ignore this grave problem people will be left with no option but to come on streets.
Expressing concern over the dilapidated condition of lanes and by lanes in the area despite the issue was taken with the concerned corporate seven months back, it said nothing was done to solve the issue. The Association said that the drains are also in worst condition as many of them are totally damaged and the authorities have failed to repair them for many years. The chocked drainage system has led to insanitation and caused health hazards.
It accused the Cooperative Housing Society of its failure in constructing the Community Hall in the area for which the land has been already identified. Though the Association took up the issue with the concerned authorities but they failed to do the needful till date.
It said the Cooperative Society is supplying the water to the area through bore well which is managed by it but despite the repeated pleas to improve the age old infrastructure they are not taking any pains with the result the water supply remains hampered mostly and people suffer.
The Association which met today made an appeal to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha seeking his intervention in the matter to solve the pressing demands of locality.
