POONCH, Dec 21: A Swift car of the close relative of a DCC candidate, was set on fire by some anti-social elements at Sakhi Maidan village near Mendhar during last night.
Official sources said that Maruti Swift car bearing registration No. JK12A/7932, belonging to Mohd Ashraf Khan, real cousin of DDC candidate (Ind) Wazid Bashir Khan, was parked outside his residence at Sakhi Maidan village last night. Some miscreants set the vehicle on fire at around 3 am.
As the Petrol tanki of the car blasted with big bang, family members woke up and rushed out at around 3.10 am and found the vehicle engulfed by huge flames. More members of adjoining families reached the spot.
Today morning, the matter was brought to the notice of Mendhar police which has taken cognizance of the matter. Today was the re-polling at Sakhi Maidan polling station where rivals had leveled allegations against Wazid Bashir Khan of booth capturing. The police was investigating the matter. The owner said that at around 12 midnight when he returned from his cousin Wazid’s house, the car was alright, parked outside. It appears the handiwork of our rivals, he alleged.
