Swine flu exposes absence of health facilities: KCCI

Srinagar, Feb 23: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry today said the pendemic swine flu has exposed the absence of  proper medical facilities for the public and also the lack of coordination between various Government agencies.
A statement of KCCI quoting its Joint Secretary General Faiz Ahmad Bakshi said that KCCI voiced it’s concern over the failure of the Government to properly encourage private investments in the health sector which could improve the facilities available and also lighten the load from the State infrastructure.
“An emergency meeting was convened today to discuss the confusion being created in the public regarding the swine flu. The trade body resolved to immediately constitute a Special Medical Cell which would comprise of private stakeholders, doctors and representatives from the concerned agencies for formulation of short term and long term policy measures required for improving the healthcare facilities for the people,” the statement said.
The KCC&I also appealed to the State Government to appoint a designated spokesperson for briefing the general public on the daily status of the swine flu in the State, it said.
