JAMMU, Oct 23: Yuvtarang 2019, the mega Literary and Cultural festival organized by office of Dean Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu entered seventh and final day of Kalanjali (Performing Arts) Segment with six events – Skit and Mimicry at GCW Gandhi Nagar and four events of Gayan Vadan (Music), Classical Vocal Solo, Semi Classical Vocal Solo, Classical Instrumental Solo and Light Vocal Solo at MAM College.
Prof Anil Gupta, Principal SPMR College, also Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Dr Geetanjali A.Rana graced the Prize Distribution Ceremonies.
The seven day long festival was held under the patronage of Prof Anju Bhasin, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu. About 400 students from Constituent Colleges and PGI Schools participated in the thirty events hosted at all Constituent Colleges.
Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare asserted that the contest is an attempt to allow students to develop creative passions and enhance their communication skills, self-expression and confidence.
Prof Anupama Vohra (Deptt. Of Distance Education, Jammu University), Sumit Sharma (Cultural Incharge, Jammu University) and Neeraj Kant (Cultural Coordinator, Natrang) adjudged the Skit and Mimicry at GCW, Gandhi Nagar.
Ashutosh Magotra, Classical Singer Pt. BS Bali (IMFA) and Sunaina Yad (Retd IMFA) were the jury for Classical Vocal Solo and Semi Classical Vocal Solo. Prof Parveen Sabharwal (Retd. Principal and noted Musician) Sunil Rana (IMFA) and Dr Naveen Sharma (GCW Parade) adjudged the Classical Instrumental Solo. Surinder Manhas, Brij Mohan and Prof Parveen Sabharwal adjudged the Light Vocal Solo.
In Skit, GGM Science College won the 1st prize, GCW Gandhi Nagar bagged the 2nd prize and School of Humanities and Liberal Arts clinched the 3rd position.
In Mimicry, Priya Sharma (GCW Gandhi Nagar) bagged the 1st prize, Vinay Sharma (MAM) bagged the 2nd prize and Pranav Koul (GGM Science) clinched the 3rd prize.
In Classical Vocal Solo, Swaranjot (GGM Science) bagged the 1st position, Karuna Majotra and Satyendra (MAM) clinched 2nd and 3rd positions.
In Semi Classical Vocal Solo, Karuna Majotra (MAM) bagged the 1st prize, Mehvish (GCW Gandhi Nagar) bagged the 2nd prize and Satyendra (MAM) clinched 3rd prize.
In Classical Instrumental Solo, Swarnjot (GGM Science) bagged the 1st prize, Harneet Kour (MAM) bagged the 2nd prize and Shobit Gupta (GGM Science College) clinched the 3rd prize.
In Light Vocal Solo, Satyendra and Karuna of MAM College won the Gold and Silver medals while Mehvish (GCW Gandhi Nagar) and Swarnjyot Singh (GGM Science) won the Bronze medal.
