Symposium on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao organised

KATHUA, Nov 7: With the motive to eradicate the discrimination against the girl child besides a bid to encourage birth and education of girls, District Information Centre Kathua organized a symposium on the topic ” Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” at Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Education Rajbagh Kathua,  here today.
CEO LSDA Dr. Bharat Bhushan was the chief guest, Director of the College Himanshu Kohli, Principal Smt. Brij Kohli, College staff and large number students were present on the occasion.
The programme started with lighting of traditional lamp by the chief guest.
As many as seven students of the College participated in the symposium. The participating students threw light on various aspects of the theme ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ and highlighted the contributions of females in every field shouldering responsibility at par with male counterparts.
While speaking on the occasion Dr. Bharat Bhushan said that declination in the sex ratio is an alarming bell for the society that needs to be addressed with an iron hand. He sought awareness to check the menace of the female feoticide. He said that no society can develop and progress without the contribution of the women. He stressed for the proper education of the girls. He appreciated the efforts of the Information Department for organizing symposium on such an important issue which would help in creating awareness among masses.
A theme based scintillating Cultural Programme was also organized on the occasion in which students presented theme based action song and a Skit.
A panel of three judges adjudged the participants of the symposium Neha Sharma stood first, Hem Raj bagged 2nd position while 3rd position was secured by Shamli Devi.
Later chief guest gave away certificates and trophies among the studentsLater, Vote of thanks was presented by Principal of the College Ms Brij Kohli.
