POONCH, Dec 15: Education Department today organized a symposium on “Modern Education and Moral Values” at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, here today.
While speaking at the symposium, Member Legislative Assembly Haveli, Shah Mohammad Tantray said that religious socialization is imperative to nurture in children those virtues and values that make them good human beings.
Mr. Tantray said that our education system must provide students with the intellectual resources that enable them to make informed and responsible decisions.
Member Legislative Assembly Surankote, Ch. Mohammad Akram, Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Harun Malik, Senior Superintendent of Police, J S Johar, Chief Educaion Officer, Ch. Lal Hussain besides several others were present on the occasion.
MLA Surankote in his address stressed on inculcation of moral values among students at an early age. He said modern education is most effective tool of regulating and moulding the behaviour of man and must be put to effective use.
Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police and Chief Education Officer also spoke on the occasion.
Among those who participated in the symposium, Mustafa Saqib of MS Dara Gursai was adjudged winner while as Mohd Fareed of HS Kalai and Mumtaz Ahmed of HS Fatehpur bagged 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Prize money of Rs. 10000, Rs. 6000 and Rs. 4000 were given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders respectively while an amount of Rs. 500 was given as consolation prize to rest of the participants.
