Symposium organized on ‘Right to Education Act’

JAMMU, Dec 14:  A Symposium on the topic “Right of children to free and compulsory Education Act” was conducted in Government Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School Parade, Jammu today.
R  A Inquallabi, Additional Secretary, School Education Department was chief guest on the occasion while H R Pakhroo, Joint Director (TRG)/Principal SIE, Jammu was the guest of honour.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted benefits of the Right to Education Act for the children as it makes education a fundamental right of every child between the ages of 6 and 14 years and specifies the minimum norms in elementary schools. They also appreciated the initiative taken at the behest of Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand who is instrumental on the enforcement of the historic Act in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
While concluding the symposium, the chief guest Mr Inquallabi said that in the last one year, more than eight thousand teachers, masters and lecturers have been promoted and about 10 thousand posts of teachers have been referred to SSRB so that education can be imparted to every nook and corner of the State.
J S Manhas, Principal of the Ranbir School, said that the RTE Act is the first legislation in the world that puts the responsibility of ensuring enrollment, attendance and completion on the Government.
Others who spoke on the occasion included,  Jyoti Baru, Arti Gupta and  Bindu Gandotra from Ranbir School , N S  Jamwal from DIET Jammu, Tarsem Singh from DIET Samba and Kulbhushan Chandra from Govt GHSS, Satwari.
