HYDERABAD, Apr 10 : In a significant development in the power sector in the country, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy, Mr.. Piyush Goyal, has appreciated the efforts of AP in reducing Transmission & Distribution (T&D) losses to a level of 12.5 per cent by the end of FY 2015. He categorically suggested all other states in the country to follow Andhra Pradesh as a role model state in lose reduction, solar and wind policies and Energy Efficiency activities , an official release said here today. Mr.Piyush Goyal, further appreciated that the Chief Minister Mr N..Chandrababu Naidu has even set a stringent target of achieving 9 per cent T&D losses, which is far below the National average of about 25 per cent. No Chief Minister in the country has even dreamt of targeting a single digit T&D loss figure in the country, the Union Minister said. Mr.Piyush Goyal has delivered key note address during the Power Minister’s Conference at Gauhati held today which was attended by AP Minister for labour and Employment Mr. K. Atchannaidu, and Ap Energy Secretary Mr.. Ajay Jain, on behalf of the state, the release said.. Mr. Atchannaidu has reiterated the commitment of the state Government in extending 24X7 power supply as part of PFA programme on long term basis. With the unstinted efforts of the Chief Minister, the Energy gap which was around 22 MU per day during June,2014 has been brought to zero for the past 6 months and power for all programme is being implemented successfully in the state.
