TA jawan’s body found hanging

MENDHAR, Nov 8: Dead body of  a Lance Naik serving in Territorial Army was found hanging at his residence at  Darana in Mendhar this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Shakti Kumar, son of Sham Lal, resident of Darana in Mendhar. He was presently serving in 163 TA battalion located in Mendhar area. Only brother of nine sisters, Shakti had love affair with a girl namely Azra Bano of Sagra ( Balnoi) in Mendhar. The youth had embraced Islam and married to Azra in 2010.  He got the new name as Mohd Irfan.
Then, his mother who was already widow, had committed suicide after his son changed religion and married a Muslim girl against her wishes. The boy also left home and started staying with that girl. Police said the youth, who was said to be upset for the past some time came to his house and had food last night. This morning his body was found hanging from the ceiling hook with the help of  ‘chunni’ of his wife. They had two daughters of 2 years and of six months age.
His wife told police that Irfan came at Darana (parents’ house) home last night and was visibly upset. He took little meals and went to sleep. Later, he used her Chunni to commit suicide. The neighbours when came to know about the matter informed Mendhar Police. SHO Mendhar Bishnesh Kumar reached the spot  and shifted the body to hospital for postmortem. He also examined the spot closely. A Medical Board of three doctors namely Dr Zahir, Dr Tariq Khan and Dr Mohd Mushtaq conducted postmortem and later handed over the body to the family.
There was  heated exchanged between the members of in-laws’ families of the deceased  and  sisters of  Shakti Kumar. Sisters wanted to conduct cremation of the body while in-laws were stressing for burial. However, with the intervention of local administration, the body was handed over to wife and she took it to Sagra for performing last rites as per Islamic traditions. The police has started investigation under Section 174 CrPC.
