A manhunt has been launched to arrest the Army man across North Kashmir. Police has also issued a lookout notice. It is not yet clear whether the Army man has joined the militant ranks or not but efforts are on to trace him.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) Kilo Force, Major General AK Singh, said that his deserting is a cause of concern for the Army. “See this is a cause of concern but Indian army is a big force and there are large number of jawans. But this one incident is no major cause of concern. We will take steps so that these kinds of incidents and accidents don’t take place again. Large numbers of jawans are working with enthusiasm”, he said.
The Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, said that police have sounded an alert and a look out notice has also been issued. “We received information that a jawan of 173 Battalion of TA hailing from Pulwama has deserted along with a weapon and three magazines. We have sounded an alert and a lookout notice has already been issued. We are looking for the person and we have come to know that his brother is working in ITBP and he is on leave. So we will be looking thoroughly and our endeavor would be to arrest the guy”, he added.
