JAMMU, Jan 15: A delegation of Travel Agents Association of Jammu (TAAJ), led by its President Capt (Retd) Anil Gour met ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain and discussed with him various bottlenecks, shortcomings & law & order problems faced by their members along with the various steps needed to ensure free flow of tourists in Jammu province.
Capt Anil Gour & TAAJ Team briefed ADGP that the tourist vehicles are subjected to periodic checking on the National Highway leading to delay in the journey of the tourists & also conveying that J&K is very tourist un-friendly. The delegation suggested that all tourist vehicles should be checked at Lakhanpur itself & stickers affixed on them so that these are not stopped anywhere in the UT further.
The team also briefed ADGP on allowing the tourist vehicles to enter Jammu City & not be diverted from Kunjwani & Nagrota thus making it difficult for the tourists to see the famous sights in Jammu city & also enhance the economy of the business community.
The team brought to ADGP’s notice that due to the improved security situation, tourists would be coming in large numbers for camping and trekking in the Shivalik hills, Bhaderwah & Kishtwar regions along with visiting other tourist spots in the province. Therefore there is a need of extra vigilance by the concerned police station as the prevalent use of drugs & intoxicants could create untoward incidents for these tourists & also at other tourist spots during the forthcoming tourist season, they added.
Capt Anil Gour assured ADGP that all members of TAAJ are always ready to support all initiatives of JKP and are actively involved in the fight against Narcotics; intoxicants & all illegal activities & inform the concerned police station of the same whenever such incidents come to their notice.
Anil Gour was accompanied by Rajinder K Sharma–Gen Secretary TAAJ and Pankaj Vaid, Treasurer.
