TAAJ seeks humanitarian assistance for family of driver Mangal Singh

JAMMU, Aug 24: The Travel Agents Association of Jammu (TAAJ) has demanded humanitarian assistance for the family of driver Mangal Singh who was brutally murdered by 8 people from Haryana.
In a meeting here, the Association members, led by President, Capt Anil Gour (retired), expressed deep appreciation for the Jammu and Kashmir Police for swiftly solving the gruesome murder of the cab driver on Raksha Bandhan.
They voiced their shock and sorrow over the incident, noting that such crimes were previously unheard of in Jammu and Kashmir.
They emphasized that Jammu, being a key destination for pilgrims, particularly those visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, must ensure the safety of taxi drivers who transport millions of tourists annually.
The association warned that incidents like this raise serious concerns about the safety of these drivers.
TAAJ members commended the prompt action by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, particularly the SHO of Nagrota, who managed to solve the case within 48 hours and apprehend several members of the gang responsible for Mangal Singh’s murder.
The association also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to extend humanitarian assistance to the bereaved family.
They urged the Government to provide a job to Mangal Singh’s wife, as he was the sole breadwinner for his family, which includes young children and elderly parents.
The meeting was attended by TAAJ President Capt Anil Gour (Retd), Vice President Sunil Koul, General Secretary Rajinder K Sharma, Treasurer Pankaj Vaid, Executive Members Narinder Gupta and Ajit Singh, along with members Sanjay Gupta, Bawa Sahni, Vijay Choudhary, R. Nag, and Pritam.
