Taiwan stocks fall for 3rd straight session; Acer down

TAIPEI, Oct 23: Taiwan stocks fell 0.5 percent for a third straight losing session on Tuesday, dragged down by Acer after the computer company posted a quarterly profit well below forecasts.

The main TAIEX index shed 35.56 points to 7,337.48, extending its decline to about 2 percent since Friday.

Acer dropped 3.5 percent, while the broader electronics sub-index was 0.4 percent lower. Financial shares slipped 0.6 percent.

The Taiwan dollar rose T$0.054 to stand at T$29.266.

Foreign investors were net sellers on Monday, bringing their total selling to T$21.4 billion this month. (agencies)
