Taj for introducing Tele radiology in hospitals of far flung areas

SRINAGAR, Aug 12: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today stressed the need for introducing Tele radiology in the hospitals of far flung areas to catch up with the shortage of staff and for convenience of patients at these places.
Chairing a review meeting of health sector in Doda district, the Minister said Tele radiology, worldwide, has fast emerged as an alternative to report radio images by senior and eminent experts at headquarters. He said it has a good scope to be developed in Jammu & Kashmir in view of its rugged terrain and topography.
Minister for R&B, Abdul Majid Wani, Minister of State for Technical Education, Vikar Rasool Wani, former Minister and MLA, Bhaderwah, Muhammad Sharief Niaz were present in the meeting.
Reviewing the healthcare scenario in the district, the Minister directed posting of adequate staff including Medical Officers and specialists to the district including District Hospital, Doda; Bhaderwah and Banihal hospitals etc. He also directed equipping the health centers in the district with adequate medicines and equipment including ambulances.
The meeting was informed that Rs. 7 crore have been spent on the hospital complex at Gandoh and Rs. 6.5 cr would be expended during this year. Similarly, Rs. 3.45 cr would be spent by the year end on Accident Hospital, Khilani which would come up at a cost of Rs. 4  crore.
The meeting was also informed that Rs. 3. 16 crore have been expended on Primary Health Centre, Changa.
Commissioner-Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Gazzanfar Hussain; Director, Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Pathania; Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma and other officers were present in the meeting.
