SRINAGAR, May 22: Congress has asked the State Government to ensure free and fair elections by- election to Anantnag, announced on Saturday, without using official machinery, for the fact, the coalition partner PDP, after sensing the defeat feels disturbed  about the polls results.
Addressing a largely attended gathering of party workers at Nadihal Rafiabad today, senior Congress leader and former Minister, Taj Mohi- ud-Din who presided over the meeting  said that State Govt should ensure free and fair elections and should not use official machinery, for the fact PDP is highly anguished about the poll results.
Castigating Mehbooba Mufti for getting the elections announced in the Holy month of Ramzan, Taj Mohi- Ud- Din expressed surprise that earlier the Chief Minister ensured deferment of election on the pretext of law and order problem, now the Chief Minister got the elections announced by not caring about the Holy month, starting shortly, which is indicative of Mehbooba Mufti being influenced by RSS policies.
Accusing PDP- BJP Coalition for failing to address urges and aspirations of the people, Congress leaders said that ‘PDP-BJP’  have lost the ground miserably due to its failure and anti-people policies, as a result people across the State are facing difficulties in every respect. They said Coalition Govt is not even able to regularize daily rated workers, casual labours and those poor people who are working on need basis for a long time.
It is surprising that PDP leadership talked much about revocation of AFSPA, return of Power projects etc, what happened to those promises made during the elections by PDP, Taj questioned.
Among others who addressed the gathering included MLA Abdul Rashid Dar, MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga, District president Aftab Ahmad Beigh, Fayaz Ahmad Malik, Block presidents and prominent party workers.
