Taj reviews steps being taken for opening of Medical College

BARAMULLA, Mar 11: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today visited District Hospital, Baramulla and took stock of the functioning of its various units and blocks.
Mr. Taj also visited the old campus of the District Hospital where he had a detailed joint meeting of officers and members of civil society. He impressed upon the hospital administration to use the premises for better patient care so that people get instant relief.
The Minister said Baramulla District Hospital assumes centrality in the entire North Kashmir and caters to the entire population of the area. He asked the administration of the District Hospital to factor in these considerations and work hard to improve its standard and patient care so that patients don’t need to be shifted to Srinagar for referral treatment.
The Minister also reviewed the steps being taken for opening of the Medical College in the hospital premises.
It may be recalled the Central Government few days back had sanctioned, among other places, a Medical College for Baramulla as well.
The Minister reviewed the requirements of space for classrooms, labs, hostels and other equipments besides requirement of staff and other human resource for starting the college.
Mr. Taj directed all the concerned departments to dovetail all their energies and get the college operationalised within the stipulated time schedule.
Principal, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Prof. Rafiq Pampori; Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone; Director, Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Salim-u-Rehman, officers of district administration were present on the occasion.
