Jammu, Jan 16: Member Legislative Council Firdous Tak today urged upon the Government to review all the cases registered against hundreds of youth in the aftermath of Kashmir unrest in 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2016 in three districts of Chenab region.
The Legislator sought the attention of the Government towards the issue in the Legislative Council today saying that career of hundreds of youth of Kishtwar, Ramban and Doda was hanging in balance as police has registered FIR against them at different points of time.
As soon as the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti concluded her reply on the discussion on governor’s address in LC, Tak stood up and draw the attention of Government towards the issue. “When the Government is considering reviewing of the cases against youth in Kashmir and compensation to those who have suffered in 2008 unrest, victims from Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban shall also be considered”, he said.
He informed the house that several youth were unable to apply for any Government job or passport only because FIRs stand registered against them. “Police in many cases have not even filed charge-sheet since years. Either the cases shall be withdrawn or FIRs be taken to its logical conclusion so that the youth may not suffer for no reasons”, he said.
