JAMMU,  Aug 21: Chairman of SOS International, an organization of displaced persons from Pak occupied Kashmir, Rajiv Chuni today said that  Government should shun making tall statements and take action with regard to the  rehabilitation of refugees and getting PoK vacated from the occupation of Pakistan.
Addressing a meeting of the DPs from  PoK at  Rehari in Jammu today,  Chuni said that talks of vacating PoK are  echoing in political and civil circles of the country. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has been talking  vacating PoK.
“ For the last many decades, we have been saying that if there is any dispute between India and Pakistan that is PoK which has been illegally occupied by Pakistan.  For the last  seven decades, the human rights violation of PoK refugees is continuing. The Government is saying to initiate talks over repossession of PoK which is quite a good move but along with vacating PoK from the clutches of  Pakistan, Government should think about the rehabilitation of 12 lakh Hindus and Sikhs who have been living their lives under sub-human conditions,’’  he added.
Refugee leader pointed out that Government in 1994 has passed a resolution in Parliament to vacate PoK as it is an integral part of India but even after the span of 22 years, Government has failed to take any concrete  step in this direction. “ Our work must be demonstrated through our actions, “ he maintained.
Chuni further said that various committees, commissions were constituted but the reports of these bodies were never honoured adding, if one Government made committees and commissions to look into the matter of PoK Refugees, the next Government used to dissolve them. In the way, PoK refugees were exploited by respective Governments.
