Take decision on payment of pensionary benefits to employees: HC to Secy YS&S

JAMMU, Mar 21: High Court has directed the Secretary, Youth Services and Sports Department to take decision on payment of pensionary benefits to the employees of Sports Council.
The direction has been issued in a petition filed by Nazir Ahmed and others essentially prayed for a direction to the respondents to provide pensionary benefits to the petitioners who are serving employees of the J&K Sports Council on the analogy of employees of J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board and J&K Handicraft Corporation and J&K SRTC etc.
After hearing Advocate M I Sherkhan, Justice Sanjeev Kumar disposed of the petition with the direction to the Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports Department to take a decision on the request of J&K Sports Council for payment of pensionary benefits to its employees.
“The Secretary Sports Council has filed an affidavit in which he has categorically stated that the matter with regard to payment of pensionary benefits to the employees of the Council has been taken up with the Government and the same is under active consideration”, the DB observed, adding “it has further been submitted that as and when appropriate decision is taken by the Government, follow up action will be taken by the Sports Council”.
