Take immediate steps to address water scarcity: NC

SRINAGAR, Apr 23:  National Conference lashed out at the Administration for the unprecedented, unacceptable crisis of water scarcity in various areas of Srinagar and had failed to apprise people of the problem that had caused the interruption in the Rangil Water Treatment Plant.
“One understands that landslides and slush in the Sindh river has affected the Rangil Plant supply but there has been a brazenly tardy approach in restoring the supply when this should have been done on a war footing. The water supply from the Doodh Ganga  Plant has also been irregular and is a cause of great inconvenience to the people”, NC spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu said.
Mattu said the PHE Department has shown complete callousness in dealing with this problem and has paid no heed to the sufferings of the people. “Water tankers are sent to the affected areas at irregular, odd times of the day and the scenes of women coming out with buckets to collect water from water tankers in the dark makes one wonder if we are living in the stone age while the rest of the world is advancing in the 21st Century.
