Take measures to contain animal casualties: Ex-MLC

JAMMU, Aug 12: Chief spokesperson of JKPCC, Ravinder Sharma has expressed grave concern over the spread of the fatal disease taking heavy toll of animals in various parts of Jammu region including Rajouri, Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts and demanded immediate urgent steps by the Government.
JKPCC said that there are reports of fast spread of deadly disease in the different parts especially entire border belt of Jammu region as a result the farmers are worried a lot as there are no proper facilities in most parts in the animal care front.
In an urgent letter to Lt Governor and Atal Dulloo FC Animal Husbandry Department, Ex-MLC urged that the department should take to electronic media and social media to spread awareness and urgently set up help call centres which should be monitored by the higher ups regularly.
He said the teams of doctors should be requisitioned by the Government as per need and special camps should be set up at each affected areas.
Sharma urged the Government to provide free medicines and vaccination etc and compensate the farmers who have suffered huge loss of bovine animals and lost their livelihood besides animal bank loans outstanding against them.
