JAMMU, Mar 18: Former Minister and Member AICC  Abdul Gani Vakil today in a statement urged the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to take stringent measures to curb corruption in the State and make the administration accountable.
Vakil said that corruption undoubtedly flourishes from top level and anti graft bodies like State Vigilance Commission, State Accountability Commission and State Information Commission were constituted for curbing corruption and cleaning the system from unscrupulous elements. He said despite huge investment in these anti graft Commissions, desired results have not been achieved so far.
He urged the Chief Minister to strengthen these institutions and ensure disposal of all pending cases in a time bound manner so that faith of the people can be held back in the system of governance.
Vakil expressed concern over the continued stay brought by some ex-ministers, and bureaucrats for last more than eight years and no step has been taken till today. He said if the Government is serious in eradicating corruption then they should activate their lawyers and get these stays vacated.
