JAMMU, May 7: Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) in a meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of its president K K Khosa said that with the initiative of Union Government to identify about 16,800 kanals of land for creation of three townships for the safe and respective resettlement of the displaced Pandits to Valley the urge and longing of the community to return to their ancestral land has become even stronger after the passage of 27 years since exodus.
The Sabha has also urged the State Government to finally take this exercise to its logical conclusion and not leave or abandon it due to pressure from destabilizing forces within and outside the Valley who don’t want the situation to improve and community to regain its lost space in the Valley. The Government should not take threats from Hurriyat seriously, it added.
The meeting demanded that MLA Engineer Rashid be dealt seriously and put behind the bars for his outbursts and communal outrage opposing Pandits return.
Sabha said since over 70 percent properties have been sold by the displaced community therefore efforts be made for their settlement respectfully so that the community develops a sense of security. In the concentrated settlements as proposed all the facilities be provided, it added.
The meeting also demanded that agenda of alliance of present Government needs to be implemented in letter and spirit and high priority be given to rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley, it added,
