Take steps on war-footing to tackle epidemic: NC

SRINAGAR, Feb 21: Expressing serious concern over the rapid spread of  deadly swine flu virus in the State, general secretary National Conference Ali Mohammad Sagar today urged the Governor N N Vohra to take immediate steps on war footing to control the epidemic.
In a statement issued here, party senior leader Mr Sagar urged the Governor to put in use all the State machinery to control this deadly epidemic  so as to save the precious lives of the citizens. “I urge the Governor Jammu and Kashmir Vohra Sahib to put in use all the State machinery to control this deadly epidemic from spreading further. This has panicked the people as many  have died in other states  due to this deadly virus,”  Mr Sagar said.
“The way there is increase in such number of patients on daily basis, it shows this needs to be tackled at war footing and the Health Department should put all its machinery in use and people should be provided all necessary help,” he added.
He further said that the safety of the citizens should be  priority of the administration and it was cause of worry to hear that swine flu  and the normal patients are being kept in the same wards.
“The wards should be separated and the isolation wards should be made available for the patients affected with the swine flu. Moreover, the hospital staff including the doctors and nurses should be laced with modern effective equipments so that they can cater to the patient care without getting affected themselves,”  Mr Sagar maintained.
Sagar appealed the Governor N N Vohra to personally intervene in this matter and take stock of situation on regular basis besides directing all the concerned agencies in this behalf.
