Take stringent measures to counter Pak onslaughts: NPP

JAMMU, Aug 24: National Panthers Party chairman and former Minister Harshdev Singh has lambasted the Union Government for its failure to take deterrent action against Pakistan despite the latter’s highly wicked and criminal acts in persistently violating our territorial integrity and national pride.
In a press statement, Mr Singh said that today’s threat of Pakistan boasting of being a nuclear nation and the recent statement of Pak High Commissioner Abdul Basit that it shall continue to support the Separatists, in their ‘freedom movement in Kashmir’ should be eye opener for the Indian Govt. He lamented the highly defense posturing of Union Govt in the face of a highly aggressive Pak and its diplomatic offensive against India and urged upon New Delhi to agitate the matter before the United Nations besides the international fraternity.
The NPP leader regretted the submissive and meek approach adopted by New Delhi despite highly pernicious Pak onslaughts and its continued violations of the cease-fire agreement. He said that the present visit of the Defense Minister would be meaningless if stringent deterrent measures are not taken against Pakistan for its mis-adventures on LoC and international borders and its veiled threats. He urged upon the visiting Defense Minister to seriously address the woes and agony of border migrants who have been forced to flee their homes and hearths due to highly surcharged situation on LoC and Borders.
Flaying Pakistan for sabotaging the Indo-Pak dialogue, Mr Singh said that the hostile neighbour was never serious on talks and had along persisted with its nefarious design of destabilizing India and keeping the proxy war going. Strongly condemning Pakistan for its veiled threats and its open support to Kashmiri Separatists and anti-nationals, Mr Singh called for declaration of Abdul Basit as ‘Persona non grata’ and his deportation to Pakistan. Expressing grave concern over continued Pak shelling and targeting of our civilian population, Mr Singh called for adequate and appropriate response to counter these highly reprehensible acts.
