NEW DELHI : National Security Advisor Ajit Doval today categorically denied a report which attributed him as saying that India has cancelled the proposed Foreign Secretary level talks with Pakistan but insisted that Islamabad will have to take prompt and decisive action on the Pathankot attack to carry forward the dialogue process.
Talking to NDTV, Mr Doval said talks would take place “only if Pakistan takes action” against those behind the Pathankot terror attack.
A Hindi daily today carried an interview with the NSA in which he was quoted as saying that the Foreign Secretary levels talks scheduled on January 15 have been cancelled in the wake of the attack on Pathankot airforce airbase.
Mr Doval asserted that dates for the talks had not been fixed. He repeated the External Affairs Ministry’s tough message to Pakistan that it must deliver “prompt and decisive action” on the evidence provided by India of the terror attack on January 2 at the air force base in Pathankot.
“The ball is in Pakistan’s court,” said Vikas Swarup, the spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, adding that “The Immediate issue in front of us is what action Pakistan takes on the leads provided to it.” (AGENCIES)
